About me

My Background:

Picture
I have lived in Saint Paul for the past 25 years.  I have been lucky to obtain an education, live in a great city and work for change.

 My Experience:
My background (immigrant from Mexico), education (Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota with a master's degree in Public Affairs and a concentration in Community Development), and experience are valuable assets for the school board.

Over the last 20 years, I have worked in community and economic development. My experience includes working in state and local government (including the City of St Paul) and with various highly-recognized foundations and non-profit organizations in Minnesota (including the Wilder Foundation). Additionally, I am a passionate community member who has served on several boards, including The St. Paul Public Schools Board Foundation, the Start Time Steering Committee for the Saint Paul Public School District, and the City of Saint Paul Planning Commission as well as President of District Council 16.

I work for communities to have greater access to equitable education, economic opportunities, and safe, healthy and affordable housing.

I live in Saint Paul with my wife and our two daughters, and am currently the Director of Economic Vitality at CLUES, the largest non-profit organization serving Latinos in Minnesota, based in Saint Paul. I am a progressive Democrat.
